Mass protests that have erupted over police brutality toward black people in America are raising concerns about the risk of spreading the coronavirus. But some health experts, even as they urge caution, said they support the demonstrations – because racism also poses a dire health threat.

The risks of congregating during a global pandemic shouldn't keep people from protesting racism, according to dozens of public health and disease experts who signed an open letter in support of the protests.

"White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19," the letter said.

Initially written by infectious disease experts at the University of Washington, the letter cited a number of systemic problems, from the disproportionately high rate at which black people have been killed by police in the U.S. to disparities in life expectancy and other vital categories — including black Americans' higher death rate from the coronavirus. The letter from the University of Washington states: White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19. Black people are twice as likely to be killed by police compared to white people, but the effects of racism are far more pervasive. Black people suffer from dramatic health disparities in life expectancy, maternal and infant mortality, chronic medical conditions, and outcomes from acute illnesses like myocardial infarction and sepsis. Biological determinants are insufficient to explain these disparities. They result from long-standing systems of oppression and bias which have subjected people of color to discrimination in the healthcare setting, decreased access to medical care and healthy food, unsafe working conditions, mass incarceration, exposure to pollution and noise, and the toxic effects of stress. Black people are also more likely to develop COVID-19. Black people with COVID-19 are diagnosed later in the disease course and have a higher rate of hospitalization, mechanical ventilation, and death. COVID-19 among Black patients is yet another lethal manifestation of white supremacy. Brave Doctors Demand End to COVID-19 Lockdown and Social Distancing

A viral account from two California doctors, Dr. Dan Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi, have voiced the concerns of millions: When will the coronavirus “shelter-in-place” orders end, and does it really make scientific sense to quarantine the healthy?

On April 22, 2020, they held a press conference and said emphatically that based on their analysis businesses should re-open, and people should return to regular life, without masks.

“Do we need to still shelter in place? Our answer is emphatically no,” Dr. Erickson, a board certified Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, said to a captivated audience of journalists. “Do we need businesses to be shut down? Emphatically no. Do we need to test them and get them back to work? Absolutely.”

The two doctors own and operate seven urgent care facilities in Kern County, California as part of a franchise called Accelerated Health Care, and were basing their position on the in-house testing data they personally have reviews.

Other points the doctors raised were that their analysis of the official CDC and WHO COVID-19 data has proven that the disease is no more dangerous than the seasonal flu, and that self-quarantining will actually make the general population more susceptible to other diseases because their immune systems have been artificially lowered by lack of exposure to others.

Both doctors recounted they have heard from multiple unnamed ER physicians around the country that hospital administrations are pressuring doctors to wrongly write that coronavirus by itself has caused deaths, instead of including other factors, such as underlying health conditions and poor life choices, such as lifelong smoking.

Dr. Erickson believes there is a hidden agenda behind the discrepancy and that politics, not science, is motivating governments and media to maintain the pandemic, and its associating climate of ear.

TruNews has chosen to re-post this video in its entirety, without edit, because YouTube has begun to censor it from their platform, citing a violation of “community guidelines.”

In an interview with CNN’s Brian Stelter, prior to the censoring of the video above, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said she plans to stamp out misinformation, and examples of content that would be a violation of YouTube’s policies include anything “that is medically unsubstantiated," such as someone saying “take vitamin C, take turmeric, like those are/or will cure you.”

Wojcicki added: “Anything that would go against World Health Organization [WHO] recommendations would be a violation of our policy."

Protest in Ohio Demonstrates Pulse of Life in America

People traveled from across the state to protest Gov. DeWine's business closures and stay at home order, as well as the Ohio Department of Health's reported COVID-19 case numbers.

Virtually none of today's protestors can be seen wearing cloth face masks at the gathering — although there's definitely at least one person in a Guy Fawkes mask — and it appears the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommended six-foot social distancing guideline to prevent the spread of the virus was largely ignored.

Notable anti-vaccine advocate Scott Shoemaker attended the protestor rally, interviewing several participants about where they came from and why.

One protestor, a Cleveland-area nurse named Jessica who was recently let go from her outpatient job because she says there weren't enough people coming in, explains that she came down to show her kids how important their freedoms are and explains "we're not afraid of any viruses."
